Queensland Plants and Flowers (QPF), based in Thornlands, Brisbane, has consistently focused on maximising energy efficiency and sustainability in its greenhouse operations. Building upon previous infrastructure upgrades, a recent enhancement further optimises heating and cooling performance across the facility.

The new installation consists of 6x Evo Command-i 210 heat pumps, which connect to a large underground tank system. This system is designed to maintain precise temperature control, with one tank chilled to approximately 12°C and another heated to around 45°C. The stored water is then distributed through a coil and fan combination mounted high on the nursery grow room walls. This innovative setup enables consistent heating or cooling of the room by circulating air, ensuring optimal temperatures year-round to maximise plant growth and yields.
