Free Government Money?!
A great government scheme is coming up soon for small businesses, granting them $20,000 for energy efficient projects! This program, called the Energy Efficient Communities Program plans to deliver $50 million of grants to small businesses and community organisations to improve their energy efficient technologies and better manage their energy consumption to reduce their power bills.
The allocated funding is being established to save energy for small businesses’ and organisations by purchasing energy efficient equipment upgrades; investing in energy and emissions monitoring and management systems to better manage energy use and completion of energy systems assessments according to the Australian Standard or feasibility studies to investigate energy efficiency opportunities.
Eligible community organisations for this grand include and are not limited to Men’s Sheds, community owned kindergartens, welfare centres, community centres and women’s associations. Eligible organisations can apply for grants from 1 September 2019 for up to $12,500.
Small businesses can use the grant to save energy by implementing equipment upgrades that reduce energy consumption, investing in energy and emissions monitoring and management systems to better manage energy use, completion of energy systems assessments according to the Australian Standard or feasibility studies to investigate energy efficiency opportunities.
Small businesses will be able to apply for grants by January 2020 and are encouraged to lodge Expression of Interest’s with their local member of Parliament. Small businesses can claim up to $20,000 and are not required to make a co-contribution.
