Submission Checklist

To avoid your piece being rejected and to save your and our precious time, please ensure that you look over this submission checklist before sending articles to us.

1. Include up to three embedded links: These can refer back to pages on your own website or to a relevant, authority website. They cannot however, link back to a spammy site or anywhere that isn’t authoritative.

2. Include a 50 word BIO: Use this to explain your business.

3. Ensure that it’s original and not published elsewhere: In order to publish on our site, we ask that you provide us with fresh, original content that’s not been published elsewhere. You retain all publishing rights afterwards.

4. Make it helpful, not promotional: The aim with the writing should be to make it helpful and valuable to the audience. While we will allow you to plug your services or products, we want 90% of the article to be helpful and valuable, not simply a sales pitch mentioning your business name thirty times – nobody wants to read that.

5. Make it ready to publish: So that means it’s free of all spelling and grammar errors and it’s spaced into paragraphs with sub-headings throughout the body of the article.

6. Include at least one licence-free photo: This can be your own or sourced from elsewhere, so long as you provide a link to the original source and attribute it. Make this photo at least 640 x 480 and JPEG or PNG. You can include up to ten photos if you would like.

7. Keep it within the word limit: This is between 300 words to 1,500 words. Anything less or more than this is liable to be ignored.

8. Expect a response from us: We will aim to respond to you within 48 hours about whether or not your piece will be published, but allow for a maximum of 1 week then follow us up.

9. We reserve the right: To edit and proof your article before publishing it. Although we will inform you of any changes made before publication. We will heavily edit articles that are too promotional for our blog, either that or we will choose not to publish them at all.

If you have a completed article to pitch, then we want to hear from you. Please forward articles to athena@totalmarketing.com.au for consideration.
